And, that’s a wrap for Summer 22. 

Thank you to everyone who came on this ride with us. Starting a live film festival during a pandemic is no mean feat (and perhaps, kinda bonkers?!) and the support that Tāmaki Makaurau gave us has been mind blowing.

Across the 16 days of the festival you consumed over 50 films across 80+ sessions, enough popcorn to fill our cinema foyers many times over, thousands of litres of gin, a lot of vegan pies and ice cream, and a decent amount of beersies.

Old mate omicron slowed us somewhat, but we were amazed at how much you continued to (safely) embrace the in person cinematic experience, that just can not be replicated.

Our mission was always to add to Auckland's vibrant culture and arts scene and we couldn’t have done it without you.

It’s a tough time for the arts and if there’s one thing we would love our In The Shade whānau to do, is keep supporting independent venues and artists as they head into an uncertain 2022.

One thing is for sure: we don’t think you have seen the last of us.
